Issue 72: Why you're working harder and still overlooked.
One of the fastest ways to stall your career is to be seen as busy, but not strategically significant.
Here's what I mean:
Operationally significant leaders keep things running. They're dependable, but often overlooked when opportunities arise. They're not top of mind.
Strategically significant leaders are recognized as advancing what matters most to the organization. They're trusted, visible, and invited into the rooms where the important decisions are made.
Think about that for a quick second. If you're being honest with yourself, how strategically significant are you right now? Take a moment to rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 5:
What would your senior leaders, peers, or clients have to say?
This question matters because, as you know at this stage in your career, recognition and advancement don't come from effort alone or from schmoozing — they come from being seen as essential to the bigger picture.
If this resonates and you want to learn where to start to go from relatively invisible or just operationally significant to strategically significant, take my free Intentional Leadership Index assessment.
In about five minutes, you'll get a personalized breakdown of where you stand across three pillars -> Self-Mastery, Role-Mastery, and Goal-Mastery, and a clear picture of what's keeping you from being seen as strategically significant.
Take the assessment here.
Reflection question: Where are you still showing up as operationally significant instead of strategically significant?
Even if you feel on top of your game at work, are you showing up as strategically significant everywhere? The assessment will help you see where the gaps are.
Go out there and lead,
Asia
